Cast Your Burdens On God.
“Cast your burden on the Lord [release it] and He will sustain and uphold you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (slip, fall, fail).”
Psalms 55:22 AMP
The word, “Casting” especially in this context means to forcefully throw. Not from a place of disrespect or rudeness, but from a place of true desperation where you act defiantly against your flesh which would rather hold onto things it has no business holding onto.
You were not designed to hold anything other than God Himself and for everything else at best, you’re simply a conduit. You carry within you a void that is fully customized and expandable to host the infinite God. It is such a privilege that nothing can compare to.
It might seem strange that you’re able to do this in any capacity, but when you try to host something else— as tiny as everything is compared to God, you would buckle and crash under the weight. Things like worry, doubt, fear, jealousy, and so on and so forth for example are the side effects of your flesh trying to host the illusion of control and a sovereignty that makes you assume that you are lord over your own life, and you belong to yourself. You literally cannot bear any single weight of being responsible for yourself, and so you hurt and suffer, carrying burdens you were never meant to carry, for nothing.
Your flesh in its rebellion would rather hold on to everything and anything other than the only One you were created to hold and it doesn’t care that you suffer needlessly while you do this. The enemy is ever so eager to take advantage of the rebellion of your flesh to sell you lies that you’re alone, you have no help, God has abandoned you, and you are burdened with the task of saving and helping yourself, all of which your flesh happily laps up in order to reinforce itself. This makes it increasingly difficult to live a life of rest where you live fully sponsored by God, the longer you let your flesh gain the upper hand to your own detriment.
This is why The Lord invites you to cast your burdens on Him. God is big enough to absorb them and restore you to your original design where you live a life of complete dependency and surrender to Him. God is faithful enough to preserve and sustain you in righteousness which is a state where you’re always at the right place, at the right time, doing the right things from a status of right standing with God. In this state, you are fully held up and together by The One who beautifully creates and controls every single outcome that leads to true good because He alone is good. God loves us so deeply, and all He wants is for us to understand is the depth and the breadth of this love in a state of rest where the only burdens we carry are His own which lead to eternal and everlasting life with Him beginning even from this earth.
Many times, the hardships we often face present us a beautiful opportunity to hate the vain works of the flesh and the deception of the enemy to the point where we can draw strength from God to cast every burden we might be carrying so we can truly enjoy the fullest extents of God’s care for us. In this place of rest, we can never stumble, fall, or fail.
