From Seeds To Trees.
In May 2018, I dedicated my life to Jesus Christ. With every chance I get, I like to state very clearly that I did not just pray the sinner’s prayer to take that first step towards repentance and receiving salvation from God. I categorically dedicated my life to God.
I don’t point this out to testify about how serious I was about my salvation, or how much I loved God and wanted to serve Him. The truth is that I was a wretched sinner who did not love God, value Him or even understand what I was getting myself into. All I knew for certain was that my life did not mean much to me, and if this Jesus thought that it was worth even a crumb to Him, then it was worth a shot to give Him my whole life and see what He would make out of it.
In August 2018, barely three months after I made this decision that changed my life forever, I decided to host a worship event to honour God instead of simply celebrating my birthday. You see, as small and seemingly noble as this decision was, it was not from a place of love. I didn’t have a lot going for me, so birthdays were important to me. I didn’t have anything valuable to offer God to show Him how serious I was about dedicating my life to Him, so I decided to give Him the most important thing to me by making a day that would typically be all about me, all about Him.
I designed the poster, sent out the invitations, made some snacks and a two-tiered cake, and prepared the message for the day. The sermon was simple: if God could save and use a wretch like me to reveal His heart, there was nobody He could not save, transform and use for His glory.
I could write a long essay about what happened on the night of this event that would later be known as the first Sabbath… that small event with 8 people in August 2018, which birthed a powerful movement that has changed lives forever, starting with my own. I could write many long essays about it, but instead, I choose to give all the glory to the God who turns a small seed into a mighty tree. I choose to give Glory to the God who gave a powerful message to a small girl who battled with anxiety and could barely speak in front of the smallest crowd. I choose to give all the glory to the God who is committed to drawing men to Himself with great and small things according to His will.
Sabbath has now significantly grown into a Bible conference where young people gather to minister unto God as they rest in the truth of a pure knowledge of Him. Every year, the Lord gives us a theme centred around rest, and this theme is faithfully expounded with the word of God being the final authority. Over the years, Sabbath has passed through many changes that have led up to this point, where it is a hardcore Bible conference without any fluff or side attractions other than the message of Jesus, who calls us into a life of rest in Him.
In the second physical edition of Sabbath, which took place in Lagos, God taught all who attended the event about the meaning of rest to reveal the truth that rest was not a state of inactivity but a state of carrying out all our labours in the strength of God by obedience and total surrender to God through Jesus Christ. In the third edition of Sabbath, also in Lagos, God taught all who attended about this state of rest (obedience and surrender to Him) as the secret to doing exploits for Him as He defines it. In the fourth edition of Sabbath, God taught all who attended about existing in the state of rest as the key to a victorious Christian life. This devotional, in particular, that has touched the lives of so many, is proudly one of the spin-offs of Sabbath the event, and all who have followed it religiously can testify to the revelation of God’s wisdom through this devotional.
While Sabbath’s attendance has not grown exponentially in size (this year, as instructed by God, we will even accommodate only 30 people as opposed to our usual 50), it has grown in depth and impact in accordance with the Father's will.
Sabbath has intentionally remained small and intimate according to God’s design for impactful fellowship where everyone feels like one family fully seen, held and loved by God, and this is maybe one of my favourite things about Sabbath… its very nature is rooted in obedience to God and a complete surrender to His design, no matter what this looks like.
Sabbath has consistently proven that impact and growth, as measured by God's standards, are never measured by the standards of this world. Just as it was with the 12 apostles, Gideon’s 300, and the seed of the woman, one small thing like Sabbath can change the world, too, in the most unassuming way.
Apart from giving us sound teaching and the opportunity to minister unto Him, Sabbath has been a highly anticipated event amongst all who know its value, because it has been a wonderful way to close out the year, surrender all our burdens to God, as we receive instructions from Him in preparation for the new year, unwind with like-minded Christians and receive a fresh outpouring of God’s power and anointing.
By the grace of God, I will be hosting the 5th and final edition of Sabbath until further notice, as instructed by God, and in this edition, God will be teaching the secret to falling and staying in love with Him through rest, and what a beautiful way to wrap up this wonderful gift that is Sabbath!
It has been 5 editions of God’s grace and 7 years of God’s mercy to every single one of us who has experienced Sabbath in one way or the other. These numbers are symbolic to me, representing grace and perfection, and I am very excited for all that God has in store for us this year.
This year’s edition of Sabbath will be held at Yaba, Lagos, on the 14th of December 2025. Attendance is free as usual, but registration is mandatory, so whether you will be joining physically or online, you have to register using this link.

There will be free transportation this year, as always, so please go ahead to register for the event if you wish to attend, but don’t have the financial capacity to.
Finally, this year, I am humbly asking for your financial support to make this last edition until further notice truly memorable. As the Lord leads you, please give to Sabbath using this link. Please join the intercessory group as well, using this link. In November, we will begin intercession for Sabbath, and we are assured that the God who has sent us has gone ahead of us to make things perfect in accordance with His will.
May the Lord continue to keep us all in His rest. May He continue to give us everything we need to do His will in the name of Jesus, Amen.
